Welcome to Simple Style

Hello and thank you for visiting my blog!

I live in England with my amazing boyfriend and one demanding (but loveable) cat.  I am in my late 20s and at the end of last year I had to make the painful admission that my clothes shopping had become excessive. Not "pay day loan, remortgage the house" excessive, but it had got to the point that rather than being in control of my shopping, shopping was in control of me.

Looking back I was the classic emotional spender: shopping because I wanted to feel pretty, shopping because I'd had yet another stressful day at work and a new top would make it all better, or because I wanted to "treat myself." The problem was, I was trying to buy myself happiness, when all I was really left the shops with was diminishing savings, guilt and a random selection of clothes which didn't make outfits ( bright pink coral jacket anyone?!) Which as you can imagine led to stressful mornings stood in front of the wardrobe, moaning over my morning coffee  the inevitable  phrase " I have nothing to wear!!"

So, at the start of the year, I set myself a monthly budget for clothes ( approx half what I was spending in 2014). Then, inspired by other blogs much better than this one, I decided to try Project 333: creating a capsule wardrobe of around 33 carefully chosen items and wearing them for 3 months. I am now 5 weeks into my first season (Summer), and in future blogs I will be sharing with you some things I have learnt along the way...
